Research shows that parental involvement in transition is important for several reasons including:
- Parents involved in the transition process tend to remain involved in their children’s schooling at the next level.
- When parents participate in the transition program, they are able to motivate their children to do the same.
- Parent participation in the transition process improves communication between parents and the young person’s teachers. Enabling parents to work together to prevent problems from occurring or to intervene quickly when problems do arise.
