Georges River College Oatley Senior Campus is committed to ensuring transition from middle school to senior school is informative and explicit. Transition programs impact a young person's engagement with school, their wellbeing and ongoing learning trajectory. Our aim is to increase the number of transition sessions by providing more experiences for parents and students to visit GRC Oatley Senior Campus over a 6-month period.
During Term 2, Year 10 students from the middle campuses of Georges River College will be offered a range of activities to help them make an informed decision about the subjects they wish to study in Year 11 and 12.
These include:
1. Subject Information Day
Date: Thursday 28th April 2022
Time: 9:30am – 2:30pm
Venue: GRC Oatley Senior Campus
Staff from GRC Oatley Senior Campus will provide advice on this day regarding course content, assessment, resource requirements, time considerations and particular attributes needed to achieve success in each subject.
2. Subject Information Presentations
Parents and students are invited to view presentations via Moodle. Staff from GRC Oatley Senior Campus will provide advice regarding course content, assessment, resource requirements, time considerations and particular attributes needed to achieve success in each subject. Access will be available for a 4-week period.

Step 4: Click on Student Transition Program.
Step 5: Login with your Portal username and password.
Step 6: Click on enrol me
Step 7: Scroll down to select which Presentation you would like to watch.
Choose your Presentation by clicking on the Play triangle.
3. Course Taster Classes
Taster classes give Year 10 students the opportunity to try out a variety of subjects offered at the Senior Campus. It allows them to learn more about their subject of choice and empowers them to take charge of their senior education.

4. Subject Information Night
Parents and students are invited to attend a Parent Subject Information Evening on site. Staff from GRC Oatley Senior Campus will be providing advice regarding NESA requirements for the Higher School Certificate and subject selection for Stage 6.
Meetings are scheduled for:
GRC Peakhurst – Tuesday 21st June at 6:30pm
GRC Hurstville & GRC Penshurst – Wednesday 22nd June at 6:30pm
5. Curriculum Expo - Tuesday 28th June (4 - 7pm)
GRC Oatley Senior Campus will be providing detailed information about the courses on offer for Stage 6. Parents and students will have the opportunity to visit the site, ask specific questions about course content, skills and major works. Further information will be provided.
It is critical that students are provided with consistent information regarding courses, so that they not only choose courses that they like and are capable of achieving success in but courses that will gain them the qualifications they aspire to. Once students begin a course in Year 11, it is very difficult to change to another course, as available spaces are limited and NESA requires a certain number of hours of study to successfully complete the Year 11 Record of School Achievement which is a prerequisite for study in Year 12.
